QICSS Summer School
The QICSS Summer School is designed for professors, university or public sector researchers, postdoctoral and postgraduate students, and, occasionally, for undergraduates who need training in methods of analysis for large-scale complex surveys, such as those of Statistics Canada and l'Institut de la statistique du Québec in order to conduct research in the context of their work or studies.

QICSS training sessions are an integral part of its research support activities. The QICSS provides access to a wealth of micro-data, from censuses, from large-scale social and health complex sample surveys and, to a lesser extent, from administrative files. The training sessions aim to provide current and future users with the tools needed to make proper use of this vast reservoir of data. QICSS courses target university and government researchers and post-graduate students (MSc and PhD) whose teaching and research activities are centred on quantitative data analysis. Because of the hands-on nature of most QICSS courses, the number of places is restricted and rarely exceeds fifteen. Priority is given to researchers and students who are already involved in projects at the QICSS.
Two main criteria will be used to select participants, based on registration information: first, how relevant the course is to the candidates studies, research and teaching; second, whether the candidate fulfils the course pre-requisites with respect to knowledge of specific statistical methods or software.
This intensive, graduate-level, five-day seminar deals with the principles, assumptions, strengths, limitations, and applications of the family of techniques known as structural equation modeling (SEM).

Advanced topics in Structural Equation Modeling Seminar
This intensive, graduate-level, three-day seminar deals with advanced topics in structural equation modeling (SEM).
Le cours a pour objectif d'initier les étudiants aux notions de bases et avancées de l'analyse des données hiérarchiques transversales et longitudinales avec les modèles multi-niveaux.
L’objectif du cours est de présenter les estimateurs linéaires et non-linéaires couramment utilisés en sciences sociales, particulièrement en économie, en présence de données longitudinales de panels (mesures répétées).
Cet atelier est une introduction aux techniques récentes d'évaluation des politiques publiques.
Lors de ce séminaire, l'analyse de régression multiniveau paramétrique et non-paramétrique sera abordée en deux étapes subséquentes suivant la chronologie historique de leur développement. D'une manière appliquée et avec des exemples de recherche concrets, ce cours permettra aux participants de faire des liens entre les théories et les modèles statistiques du changement.
Ce cours vise deux objectifs principaux. Dans un premier temps, il s’agira de se familiariser avec les différents découpages géographiques de Statistique Canada et de construire une base de données spatiale à partir de données extraites de Beyond 20/20. Dans un second temps, il s’agira d’intégrer des variables spatiales dans des modèles de régression, puis de mettre en œuvre des modèles de régression spatiale.
This intensive training session deals with longitudinal (panel) data analysis. The course will cover topics in static and dynamic model specifications, as well as topics in duration data analysis.
