QICSS Grant Matching Programme 2012

To promote the use of Statistics Canada and the Institut de la statistique du Québec detailed microdata in graduate research projects and encourage the funding of graduate students, the QICSS is offering matching grants for Masters and PhD students. Between twelve and fifteen matching grants are offered at, 4 000$ for Masters students and 6 000$ for Ph.D. students each.

Application Documents
The student who wishes to apply to the grant matching programme must send the following documents by mail (all together, in a single enveloppe):

• A research project description;
• A proof of funding;
• A transcript from each university attended;
• A letter of support from the thesis supervisor

International Internship Scholarship offered by the QICSS and the FQRSC

The QICSS, along with the FQRSC, offers international internship scholarships in order to facilitate the international mobility of doctoral students whose research is part of the objectives pursued by the QICSS. The value of each scholarship will be based on the length of the proposed internship: $2 500/month will be given to each scholarship recipient to cover travel and living expenses in whole or in part.

Application Documents
The student who wishes to apply must send the following documents by mail (all together, in a single enveloppe):

• A description of the research project requiring access to the QICSS, specifying the stage reached in the research. The project description should include the research question and methodology and identify the database(s) to be used at the QICSS. The description of the research project should be no more than 5 pages;
• A description of the internship:

A) nature of the internship: the candidate must specify the internship objectives and the strategy to achieve them. The candidate must demonstrate the relevance of the internship in relation to 1) the doctoral research in progress and 2) the three QICSS priorities listed above;

B) location: the candidate must demonstrate that the welcoming institution is suitable in regards to the QICSS priorities

• A copy of all university transcripts (photocopies accepted);
• A letter of support from the doctoral supervisor;
• A letter of support from the welcoming institution (university, center, group, etc.).
